TecED 7 Scratch - Class 6 Final Project Introduction/Requirements

Objective: Introduction to the Final Scratch Project requirements and expectations. Continue to use the Design Journal as a resource to share with Ms. Norton. Be certain to record your final project plans in the Project Planner Outline.

• In today's class 6 the student is to view and share projects explored on the MIT Scratch Project site. Save the best projects in the My Studio folder (label folder:MITfavorites). Share at least one favorite with a classmate. The purpose of this is to gain more Scratch programming exposure/experience and to better determine your project plan.

• Please complete filling in the Project Planner handed out in class. Submit this completed plan by the next class. (note: transfer this information into your design journal OR use the Final Project Planner Outline to record your plans, progress and resources). Be certain to share this in the TecED folder you have for this class.

• Please create a new Scratch document for the final project and save appropriately.

      note: the keyword should relate to the project content.

7 BE due - 6/14/2017

• Design Journal/HW: Final Project Statement of Purpose and resources found/used to assist in the project development OR use the Final Project Planner Outline  to record all final project descriptions, steps, resources... instead of the Design JournalPlace this in the Google Documents folder you are sharing with Ms. Norton in TecEd class.

Class #5 Fourth Mini Project

Day 5 Agenda - Finish the last mini-project (#4)

Objective: Continue to become familiar with Scratch 2.0 by learning game design & programming tips. Also, use the Design Journal I or II to record/share your daily progress and writing prompt responses.

• Each student is expected to complete, save and submit the Mini-Projects on the Tips & Final project Links Google Document shared with Ms. Norton.  In today's class #5 the student is to complete the Games (4th and final) mini-project.

Please copy/paste the save name link for each of the tips mini-projects in your google Tips & Final Project document. Please remember to share with Ms. Norton. If time permits explore other projects.

Objective: Continue to become familiar with Scratch 2.0 by learning animation. Also, use the Design Journal to record/share your daily progress and writing prompt responses.

1. Each student is expected to complete, save and submit the How To's Mini-Project under the Tips section of Scratch. In today's class #4 the student is to complete the Animation Tips practice.

1. a Objective: Continue to become familiar with Scratch 2.0 by learning the many Effects you can program.
• Each student is expected to complete, save and submit the How To's Mini-Project link under the Tips section of Scratch. In today's class #3 the student is to complete the Effects Tips Mini-project.

Please copy/paste the save name link for each of the tips mini-projects in your google Tips & Final Project document. Remember to select share(while in Scratch) so Ms. Norton can grade this.

Class #2 Scratch Intro...First MiniProject

Agenda #2 - Introduction to Scratch Programming/First Mini Project

Objective: The student will follow a Scratch Tutorial to learn the Basics of designing a scratch project. Also, S/he will reflect in the design journal and discuss writing prompt #1.

1. Open your Browser (Firefox or Chrome) and 3 separate tabs: Google Drive, Class Agenda and  Scratch site.

2. Ms. Norton will share examples and steps needed to create your first mini-project. Now you will start your first Scratch Mini-Project. Select the Create tab(note save name below), next select the Tips tab at the top of the window, under the heading Getting Started choose the Step by Step intro.
       • Save as: introfirstfullnamelastinitialsection
When all steps are finished in the Getting Started Introduction section of the Tips proceed to the Explore tab on the Home screen of Scratch. Enjoy exploring other projects!(if time permits)

3. Set up the: Tips & Final Project Links document in Google Drive
Make a copy and name it: lastfullname first initial sectionTips & Final Project Links...

Please Note: Students who do not have a personal email account attached to their Scratch account and used their Natick email instead, you must complete each mini-project in Scratch first, save, download to the local computer, then upload to your Google Drive folder you are sharing with Ms. Norton.

Class  #1- TecED7 - Introduction to Scratch Programming

Classroom Management...

• Each student will bring their computer to class and bookmark the Class Website, Scratch Site and all other relevant sites for this course.
• Students will be issued a folder to be stored in the lab appropriately. Print full name and section on the top 2 inches of the folder.
• Review Classroom Procedures.
• Grading
• Set up Google Docs folder to be shared with Ms. Norton: mnorton@natickps.org 
  Note: All work is to be stored in this shared folder including your Design Journal.
• Scratch Intro Video

1. Go to the Scratch site and set up your own Scratch account:
 
      user name: wmsfirstfullnamelastinitial
      Password: student ID#

Class #10 Final Class, Share Projects

Agenda #10 Final Project Presentations/Sharing - Last Class

Objective: The student will share his/her Scratch 2.0 Final project with the class, fill out the class survey/evaluation and Project Reflections form Please complete and submit this to Ms. Norton.

1. Make certain you've shared your final project in Scratch. Also, complete the grading rubric topic statement and include your exact final project save name somewhere in the margin of the grading rubric.

2. Please fill out the Scratch education class survey.  This is a way to provide feedback to Ms. Norton which will hopefully improve the course for your classmates. It will not be graded!

3. Be certain you have shared all the Tips Mini-project work and included the links in your Tips & Projects links Google Drive Document. Complete All 5 writing prompts and Final Project Outlie/Planners. Final Acceptance Dates for Final Project work:
7 AC all work due by 5/16/2017
7 BE all work due by 5/15/2017
4. Share your Projects and Enjoy!

•Design Journal:
The design journal will reflect an overview of work completed/learned in class. Be certain this is complete!

• Final Project Planner:
Please share your project description, steps taken to compete the project (design and engineering process) and resources used to successfully complete your project.

Class #9 Scratch Project. Classmate Feedback

Agenda #9 Final Project Sharing & Feedback

Final Project Due Dates:
7 AC due 5/4/2017
7 BE due 5/2/2017
1. Final Project final Check.  Go to the My Stuff folder in Scratch and click (with your mouse) on your final project link. Be certain you complete the Instructions section, clearly describing for the user how your project functions, as if you were not there to guide them and the Notes and Creditssection, noting all the resources utilized in this project. Be clear and give credit where due. Finally, include the link and exact save name to your final project in the Tips and Final project links Google document Shared with  Ms. Norton.

2. Project Reflections form Please complete and submit this to Ms. Norton.

3. Preview another classmates final project. Complete the Project Feedback form, share with the classmate first and then submit this to Ms. Norton. Be certain the names are on the form.

4. Share your Projects and Enjoy! Perform and final edits if necessary.

5. Review the grading rubric.

•Design Journal:
The journal will note the class work accomplished for the day. Use the Final Project Planner form to note edits/updates, resources and explanation of your project development.
